@ninernation3 I agree, but as long as the article has already been published, I would like to extend my sympathy to Mr. Mayfield for having to deal with this ridiculous persecution. Marijuana is less harmful than alcohol and prohibition accomplishes nothing. Let the bro go free!

I really don’t think this article should have been published. Why are we going to sit here, make this a headline, and making the situation even worse. Yes, he made a mistake but shouldn’t we be trying to SUPPORT our guys and not knocking them down? I understand it’s news but at the same time, this is only going to make things worse. It shouldn’t be a headline article, let alone an article on a school published newspaper site.

I find the controversy over the purpose of international coffee hour’s purpose to be the most interesting bit. Regardless of the program(s) involved, there should be a method for american students to interact with international student, as well as for international students to interact amongst themselves. ICH has the unique ability to bridge the gap between the two social goals, and doesn’t need to fulfill one over the other. It’s a casual thing, allowing whomever so chooses to visit and have a good time. Counting and figuring the percentage international versus domestic will ultimately only detract from the goal of the program–to connect diverse peoples.

Maybe someday the Witherspoon second floor will grow to encompass a whole building, a learning community designed to bring together student who before had only coexisted two thursdays a month.
