Get involved: Student Organizations
Every college student is looking for new friends, new opportunities, places to utilize their skills and good things to put on their resume. UNC Charlotte has a vast amount of student organizations that can help you accomplish all of these things.
There is the right student organization out there for every student, each one pertaining to specific interests.
There are several ways a student organization can be a beneficial aspect to your college career.
Social Skills.
Joining any organization will help increase your ability to communicate with others, along with learning about different cultures. You will also be able to network with other students who share the same interests.
Experience.
In today’s world, the job market is extremely competitive. Joining a club on campus can help you get ahead of the game.
Depending on the organization you join, you could learn a variety of organizational and managerial skills.
Participation in student organizations stands out in resumes you send out. Some organizations often have connections to outside businesses to help you with the job hunt.
Alumni.
Participating in student organizations can give you the opportunity to meet alumni who can share their experience with you.
These former students can also give you tips when you begin to search for a job or internship.
Fun.
Being a part of a student organization will introduce you to many new friends. These are the people you will work alongside with and you could eventually build lasting friendships with them.
You will have the opportunity to take part in all sorts of social activities.
Though joining a student organization is a great choice, don’t try to join every club you are interested in. Try to join one or two clubs at a time. Classes should take priority over everything.
Also, try finding an organization that revolves around your major or your intended career.
Being able to use what you learn in your studies in the organization or vice versa is a great way to build up and utilize your skills inside and outside the classroom.
Being a part of a student organization presents you with great opportunities and can add valuable experience to any career that you choose to pursue.
